Deathly Ill Cat Has a Second Chance at Life, Thanks to You

Watonga Community Cat Foundation

A friendly feral cat was at death’s door, but your support helped a shelter provide the care needed to save his life.

Clyde the ginger tabby was neutered and vaccinated by Watonga Community Cat Foundation in Oklahoma. Though he was feral, he warmed to people over time and would eat dinner on the porch of the organization’s cattery. One day, though, volunteers saw that he was struggling to breathe and was barely moving. They got him to a vet, where he was diagnosed with FIP and went under sedation to have 150 cc of fluid drained from his chest.

The organization says, “This used to always be a fatal disease, but with the advancements in the veterinary field we were able to start Clyde's treatment that evening - next week he will complete his 84 days of FIP treatment and move onto observation.”

They stress that donations are essential for successful medical stories like this because the cost of food and litter are substantial, and getting donated supplies frees money up for life-saving treatments. With an average of 65 cats in their care at a time and an organization entirely run by volunteers, any help with the essentials can make a world of difference.

SEND VITAL SUPPLIES TO ANIMAL SHELTERS

With support from your clicks, trivia participation, shopping for a cause, and direct donations, our partner Greater Good Charities’ GOODS program was able to team up with Fresh Step to provide Watonga Community Cat Foundation with a pallet of cat litter, which the rescue says has helped keep funds available to care for special cats like Clyde.

They say, “We cannot thank you enough. Thanks to the Goods Program and donors like Fresh Step, we are privileged to save some of these forgotten cats in Oklahoma.”

Clyde is on the mend thanks to your support! Thank you! If you’d like to continue to provide supplies to shelters in need, including comfort items that can make a shelter feel a bit more like home, click below!
