Off-Track Thoroughbred Saved from Kill Pen Just in Time

For the past decade, Circle A Home for Horses has been rescuing horses and rehabilitating them and helping at-risk children in Virginia Beach.

Anyone who has been around horses knows that they are good for the soul. Just like us, each horse has a unique personality, and they make great therapy animals. Circle A Home for Horses has been connecting troubled children with horses and seen countless transformations.

The horses they rescue are often off-track Thoroughbred (OTTB) in poor health or found at kill pens, like sweet Sunny. This OTTB was rescued just in time. She arrived underweight and stressed.

She was rescued from a Tennessee kill pen thanks to a kind person who paid her bail and then was transported to a local stable for a couple weeks of quarantine. Roughly two weeks later she arrived at the rescue in Virginia.

Your donations are helping her get the care she needs and treating her ulcers, which are brought on by stress. She is slowly regaining her strength and is expected to make a full recovery.

The rescue shared how your donations are making a difference, "This [packs of BI GastroGard] has been a huge help and is currently used to treat our Thoroughbreds with ulcers. We have noticed improved conditions of recently acquired Thoroughbreds. They are beginning to gain weight (even during winter cold temps)."

Her caretakers said that she loves peppermints and is a kind horse. Thank you for helping her heal. Donate now to help more rescued horses.
