Homeless People with Pets in New Mexico Get Much-Needed Supplies
Andrea Powell
Homelessness is at a record high as temperatures continue to drop across the United States. Winter has arrived, and homeless people and pets are struggling to stay warm.
Pet owners choose to stay with their animals on the streets, refusing to leave them behind. Homelessness among veterans, children, and older adults has also increased. There are so many people and pets who need our help.

Blankets are one of the most critical items that relief organizations need. Thanks to your generous donations, homeless people and pets in New Mexico are getting much-needed supplies.

Animal Humane New Mexico teamed up with other local relief organizations to hand out blankets, pet food, and supplies to homeless encampments around Albuquerque. Dr. Robertson and the veterinary team also provided vaccinations and wellness exams.

One homeless woman who is living in a van with her two dogs, Theo and B, thanked everyone for their help and expressed her gratitude for, "seeing and treating people like us as human."

They also met a young dog named Sister who received vaccinations and flea/tick treatment as well as other goods. There were dogs of all ages, including a mama and puppies. The distributors told us, "This group of pets needed a lot in terms of supplies. We were able to set the family up with pet food, bowls, and self- warming mats thanks to Greater Good Charities."

Dogs wagged their tails with joy as they were given donated supplies, giving their owners one less thing to worry about.
The outreach team shared, "We were able to provide other pets and pet owners with blankets, pet bowls, food, flea/tick prevention, and even an outdoor cat house for a small chihuahua! We are extremely grateful to Greater Good Charities for these crucial supplies, allowing us to help our vulnerable neighbors and their pets."

Your donations are changing lives.
While the recipients are beyond grateful, there are still hundreds of thousands of people in need. Help us meet our goal of sending 10,000 blankets to those in need this holiday season.
