Beautiful Feline Mauled by Dog in Search of Safe Haven to Call Home

SACatRescue

Meet Drumstick (2), the sweetest ginger tabby there ever was — well, she thinks so, and who are we to argue? She's had a rough time of it as of late, and she's really hoping things will even out here soon so she can spend the rest of her life in a calm, loving environment where she doesn't have to worry about being viciously attacked or hurt again.

Estimated to be about 5 years old, this beautiful girl was rescued after being attacked by a dog, which damaged her tail badly enough to need amputation while causing some very deep wounds to her hind legs and back end. According to the Southern Arizona Cat Rescue, she has healed remarkably well and even has full use of her hind legs again. It's quite a miracle. They say that throughout her entire recovery process, Drumstick has been so sweet and still is to this day!

Regardless of everything she's been through, Drumstick is very curious and playful. She loves being petted and cuddling. When her foster mom enters her room, she gets up to greet her. Even when she couldn't stand for long, she would always try. She tends to be a picky eater but likes to eat more when she has company. She's truly a great kitty!

At times Drumstick tries to be territorial, but she still gets along with other cats in the home just fine. She is, however, understandably scared of dogs, and that may never leave her entirely, but she's done okay with the resident dog who ignored her and can adapt to very respectful, laid-back dogs who would give her space. She could also adapt to respectful kids with gentle handling.

Drumstick is spayed, current on vaccines, dewormed, microchipped, and FeLV/FIV negative. She's also house-trained and has no special needs, but she's been left with a nubbin for a tail that's actually quite cute. If this loving girl could be the purrfect addition to your family, please fill out the adoption application on the SACatRescue website.
