My wife and I rescued a 3- to 4-month-old kitten from the parking lot at the Red Robin restaurant in Elk Grove, California. We were having dinner there on Halloween night, and when we were leaving, we spotted a little gray kitten running underneath the cars in the parking lot, looking for food.

My wife went inside and asked if they had anything the kitten could eat. They gave us a piece of toast, and we put it down for her. She ate it like she had never eaten before.
The employees told us the kitten had been there for 2 to 3 weeks or so. I went home, got my small animal trap, and set it up where I had seen the kitten, with permission from Red Robin. That Sunday night, I finally trapped her.
Her new name is Smokey. She is a beautiful little kitten, about 4 months old. After a week of isolation in a stress-free environment with good food and water, and yes, some milk too, she turned out to be a very sweet little girl.
I can pick her up, and she is a big cuddle bug. She has turned out to be a very lovable kitten. She is still startled by strange or loud sounds, but you would be too if you had been through what this little kitten has gone through in life so far.
My wife and I will find Smokey a home because we already have too many cats, but we could not let that little kitten continue to run from car to car, looking and begging for food.
