While working as a park ranger at a beachfront park, a tiny abandoned kitten appeared — less than four weeks old and completely alone. Campers reported hearing a cat or kitten crying at night.

For three nights, I tried to safely capture her. She was very small and terrified, but eventually she went into the trap, and I was able to rescue her. On the way home, I stopped at the vet, who confirmed she wasn’t even four weeks old yet. She had an eye infection and parasites and started treatment immediately.

Because she was rescued from a beach park, I named her Calypso, or Callie for short. She made a full recovery and grew into a happy, healthy cat.
