I was in the foster business with my white Shepherd I've had since puppyhood. It broke our hearts every time we found a forever home for the babies that blessed our house. My Shepherd was a senior now, so I decided it was time to adopt.
I was at an outdoor restaurant when a wonderful lady approached me wanting to pet my dog. I told her we were going to adopt soon, but this time, I wanted a senior dog. Come to find out she worked at the humane society and soon pulled out her phone showing me the senior dogs.
Fell in love at first sight with one of them. I just had to go meet her. She had been in several shelters by the time she'd made it to my hometown, where she'd been for over two years.
When I first met her, she had no interest in me at all because she just wanted treats from the staff that she adored. No, I didn't care one bit because I knew how much I already loved her.
I named this precious girl Cookie, and we love her so much. She never leaves my sight and always lays on my feet so she'll know when I move. I can't explain fully, but adopting a senior dog was the best thing I've ever done and I'm so happy that I'm her mom now.
