My name is Jeff, and I live in Biddeford, Maine. Four years ago, in September, I adopted my cat — who the shelter had named Oakley. I changed her name to Daisy. This June, she will be four years old. She’s a tuxedo cat, incredibly adorable and unbelievably loving.

Daisy almost didn’t make it. I was told she had to be bottle-fed by her foster parents until she was strong enough to survive. Once she improved, she was returned to the Animal Welfare Society in Kennebunk, Maine. I made an appointment to meet her, and when they brought her in, she was only about 12 weeks old — tiny, sweet, and full of life. I held her, played with her, and knew right away she was coming home with me.

Before Daisy, I had an orange cat who meant everything to me. Unfortunately, he developed crystals in his urine and couldn’t go to the bathroom. Because I owed money to the emergency vet, they wouldn’t treat him, and I made the heartbreaking decision to put him to sleep. It was the hardest choice I’ve ever made, but I wanted him to be at peace, even if I wasn’t.

Two weeks later, I decided to adopt again — and that’s when I met Daisy. She’s one of the best cats I’ve ever had. I spoil her with toys and treats because I love her more than anything. She’s an indoor cat who loves living in Maine and especially loves sitting by the window.

In three weeks, we’re moving from Biddeford to Windham, Maine, and Daisy is going to love it — there are even more windows there than we have now. 💛
