Pugs don't fare well on the open road, and eight year old Fergie was no exception. When Fergie was brought to the Humane Society Silicon Valley, she was definitely showing signs of rough living.

Brought in as a stray, the skin around her face was infected and most of her teeth were missing. What teeth were left were cracked or broken. Like most pugs, Fergie was a pooch who enjoyed her treats, but dental problems made eating painful.

HSSV's veterinary staff immediately set to making the sweet dog more comfortable. Her face was carefully cleaned, and antibiotics were administered. During dental surgery, it was discovered that only two of her teeth were salvageable - she would always need a special diet. HSSV was able to ease Fergie's pain and give the senior another chance at life.

When Greta and Mike came in looking for another dog, it was love at first sight. Bulldog owners, they were familiar with delicate breeds and didn't blink at her special diet or the extra care her skin would need. Thanks to HSSV, Fergie found her perfect forever family.
