Would-Be Adopter Can't Stop Thinking About Hissing, 'Standoffish' Cat

When I first saw my soon-to-be cat at a local pet store, I was really skeptical of her. She was very standoffish in her cage, and most cats run right up and purr and want your attention. Not her.

I'd walk past the cage a few times and try to talk to her, but she would stand in the farthest corner and actually hissed a few times. After seeing this, I wasn't sure she'd be the cat for me.

After I left the store, I couldn't stop thinking of her, so I went back the next day just to see if she was doing any better. She wasn't; still acting the same way. I was about to leave when an employee walked up to the cage. We chatted for a few minutes, and he told me he felt bad for her because they were going to have to send her back because no one was taking interest in her. Once they go back to the shelter, they don't go up for adoption again.

That sat with me all day. I couldn't stop thinking about her. She was so different. She had the cutest flat face and a kinked tail. That night, I called the store and told them I was going to come adopt her tomorrow, and just like that I got my little kitty, and that was the best thing I've ever done.

I've never met a more lovable cat in my whole life, always wanting to cuddle and play. I definitely made the right decision. She's without a doubt my best friend, and I couldn't be any happier with the choice I made. It's true when they say "don't judge a book by its cover" because if I went with how she acted, I would have missed out on one of the best things of my life.
