I had three cats and two dogs and wasn't in the market for another. I usually beg the old man and he eventually gives in, but not this time. We were at the pet store and he said, "While I am paying, why don't you go love the fur babies?", so I went over.

I walked by the cages and was nearing the last one when out reached two paws. This little guy reached out and grabbed me by my ears, pulled me in, and proceeded to lick me like a dog would. My better half said, "You'd better grab his paperwork because he is obviously yours already."

He was three days from being put down, was very sick, and had no teeth. They thought he was around 4 months old, but he looked small enough to be just 6 weeks. Needless to say, he went home that day.

My beautiful doggie crossed the rainbow bridge two weeks later. We'd found out he had cancer just in time for him to pass in my arms. Goofy was so sick and in need of so much care, but he would lay with me as I cried and he would be very goofy (hence the name) just to make me laugh.

It took a year to get his teeth to grow in and to figure out why he was so sick, but once we got through all of that, he grew and grew. He is now 27 pounds, not fat; he is longer than a king-sized pillow now. He still kisses me constantly like a dog, and his favorite place to snuggle is laying on my face. He runs to meet me every day I come home and wants to be held and hugged for as long as possible.

He loves his mommy and isn't afraid to show it. He loves everyone in his family, but Mommy is the favorite. He follows me everywhere, plays fetch and brings the ball right to your hand, and I know he was a gift from God, as I can not even imagine a day without him.
