It was a Saturday night in April 2013 and my boyfriend and I were going to bar in Luang Prabang (Laos) when we stumbled across this tiny little kitten all by himself by the sidewalk. When we picked him up, we realized he was extremely ill, with fever, difficulty in breathing, his eyes swollen and full of mucus. He needed help immediately.

A tuk-tuk driver we stopped on the street took us to a vet who was his friend and who took care of cows in a farm. For the next five days he took antibiotics shots, we gave him food and water and he started getting better. We named him Floquilda -- which turned to Floquildo after he grew little balls :) Then came the dilemma, for we were backpacking in Asia for months already and it was time to leave Luang Prabang.
We knew we just couldn't leave him behind. Next we know we were travelling through Laos and Vietnam with a cat in a paper box! Eventually we realized this situation was not sustainable and with the help from a Brazilian NGO we put up a crowdfunding campaign to bring him to Brazil. We needed help paying for this travel docs, as well as all the vaccines and the transportation.
On June 2013 that year I landed in Brazil with him He has been living with us and his two other furry friends Juca and Dinga ever since :) The photo attached is a collage that shows his progress from Laos until now (actually he was in much worse state than showed there).
He has a Facebook fanpage with many more photos and my blog tells the whole story in detail. In almost one year that we traveled in Asia, Floquildo was the best thing that happened to us :)
