We went to the OC Animal Shelter looking for a pet, but we couldn’t decide. So we did a meet and greet in the visiting area.

It basically came down to a puppy or Mr. Winkle. The puppy was running all over the place, while Mr. Winkle just sat there, completely calm, like he already knew he was coming home with us.

And that day, he did.

The lady at the shelter told us he was quiet. But when Mr. Winkle wanted something, he was definitely not quiet. He had the biggest personality and brought so much joy into our lives.

He went everywhere with us: dog beach, the dog park, road trips, and even across the country when we moved to the East Coast. Thank goodness Chicago O’Hare had a pet area during our travels.

Mr. Winkle was always playful, loyal, and happiest when he was with his family.

He lived a long, wonderful life before finally crossing the rainbow bridge. He truly was the best dog ever, and we miss him every single day.

After him, we tried finding another companion for our female dog, but she wasn’t having it. Some dogs are just one of a kind, and Mr. Winkle definitely was.

Please adopt, don’t shop. Rescue dogs have so much love to give.
