Orph Fin was found on the road at one week of age next to his mother and siblings. All were dead except him, and he came to our kitten rescue.
We were fostering a cat who just had a litter and she accepted Orph as one on her own (Micetro Goose, she is now at the Rainbow Bridge, such a sweet kitty). We adopted Orph, couldn't help it, we loved him so much.
As Orph grew, we noticed he had a mothering instinct. When we took in Theodore and his brother Simon as foster kittens who didn't really need a mother, Theodore hounded Orph for attention. Orph let Theodore "nurse" on him as if to say, "Okay, I'll be your mama."
Theodore and his brother Simon were adopted but came back to us months later when the owner moved, and Orph hovered over them giving them comfort. Of course we adopted both Theodore and Simon, we didn't have the heart to break their bond with Orph.
Orph's name came from his being an orphan so we did a play on words, hence Orph Fin. He is so loving and our Theodore can't sleep unless he is making muffins on Orph's belly. Simon is more independent but sleeps with us each night...next to Orph and Theodore who are snuggled together.
Please, before you add a kitty to your home, make sure you are the perfect home for that kitty. Don't adopt and be unable to take of a kitty's needs. It's very traumatic to an animal to be at the Humane Society or a shelter/rescue, adopted, going to a new home and then returned or worse, going to someone who answers a free pet Craigslist ad. Be a responsible pet owner, their life depends on you.
