This is my rescue baby, Lula.

For days, we heard a tiny meow coming from a storm drain right outside our apartment building. Our 16-year-old cats would run to the door whenever she started her meowing fits.

It took a few days to finally get her out. It was difficult for her at first to adjust to being a member of the family, but my goodness, it was worth it.

Her voice is very distinct and raspy because she damaged it while meowing for dear life in that drain. For the first couple of months, she had no voice at all, but don’t let that fool you. She is the best cuddler in town.

At the time we rescued this princess, she was around 8 weeks old. She is now about 9 months old, and these have been the best and funniest months of my life. She couldn’t have come at a better time.

She loves toy mice, and I mean loves them. She loves to put them in my shoes, play fetch with them, pretend to drown them in her water bowl, and of course, rip them to shreds.

Click to Help James

James and his blind brother, William, were found abandoned on the street when they were just four weeks old. James was born with one blind eye that started to cause him discomfort. Over time, that eye became increasingly painful and irritated. James is the seeing-eye cat for his brother, making his condition even more urgent to treat.
