Couple Walks Away From Breeder Puppy And Finds The Dog They Were Meant To Rescue

We had put $300 down for a Labrador puppy from a breeder. My husband, David, and I visited the puppy we had chosen about three times.

On the way home from our last visit, David said, “Something doesn’t feel quite right. I think we should rescue a dog instead.”

We were looking for a new friend for our dog, Astro. His last companion, Ziggy, had recently passed away, and we knew he needed another buddy.

We contacted an old friend of mine from Varela Senior High. Ileana Escobar had a lead on a puppy who was a Mastiff mix. She was about four months old.
We fell in love immediately and moved forward with the adoption process.

Astro and Penny are great buddies now. We lost our $300 deposit on the breeder puppy, but it was well worth it.
