Rocky was rescued in Tolleson, Arizona, on January 20, 2024. He had been living with his former dad, who was thinking about giving him and his siblings away.

We had lost our beloved Rufus four years earlier, and our hearts were still carrying that grief. When my mom learned about Rocky, she talked to the neighbor across the street from where my Tata lives and told him, “Give me a week to get the house dog-proofed, and we will take him.”

So that is exactly what we did. After one week of getting everything ready, we went to bring Rocky home.

White dog with black patches and a “Rocky” bandana lies curled on a green plaid blanket, looking up with wide brown eyes.

Rocky came from my Tata’s neighbor across the street, and from that moment on, he became part of our family. The first picture we have of him is from the day he was finally going home.

Now Rocky is safe, loved, and living in a good home with us.

James and his blind brother, William, were found abandoned on the street when they were just four weeks old. James was born with one blind eye that started to cause him discomfort. Over time, that eye became increasingly painful and irritated. James is the seeing-eye cat for his brother, making his condition even more urgent to treat.
