I have always been a cat person, but I had to let my last cat go because I had colon cancer.

In January, a friend found a cat outside in the snow, with temperatures below zero. He brought the cat in because of the cold, although he didn’t want to keep him. Because of his allergies, he still had to let the cat outside during the day.

Then the cat came home with a broken leg, and nothing was going to be done about it. I had to go get him.

I brought him home. He had severe diarrhea as well as the injured leg, so I took him to the vet as soon as possible. He was tested for feline leukemia, given his shots, and treated for his intestinal trouble and the pain in his broken leg. I couldn’t afford to have the leg rebroken, so I prayed he would adapt.

Oliver has been a blessing! He adapted to his leg injury so well that you would never know it had been broken. He looks his age now, instead of looking like the neglected cat he was. He gets into everything, and my elderly mom is his best friend.

I felt the need to share his story because every animal deserves that chance. Oliver got one, and so did I.
