My daughter was looking for a puppy. I had just lost my job, and I wanted to help her find the right dog.

One day, I was on my way home when I remembered that I had wanted to stop at the shelter. Something told me to turn around and go back.

At first, I didn’t see him. He was in the first cage on the bottom. As I was leaving, I happened to look back, and there he was. It was love at first sight.

I sent my daughter a picture of him. I told her that since I wasn’t working, I could come over and stay with him on the days she worked. That went on for a few months.

Then she had to do her internship for six months, so we decided he should stay with me until she was done. During that time, I bonded so closely with my grandpuppy.

When she got him back, things weren’t the same. He wanted his grandma. So she decided to give him to me.

His name is Hank, by the way.

Hank rescued me. It has been almost five years, and I still don’t have a job. I have been penniless for three years, and my sister took us in.

Through it all, Hank has been by my side every day.

Something told me to turn back that day. I thank God for giving me him.
