My sweet Sweet Pea was the only one in her litter to survive frostbite. Sadly, her mom and babies were left in a field in freezing cold weather while an unusually extreme freeze warning was in effect that night. They were found too late for everyone to survive.
We adopted Sweet Pea from a rescue, and she has been the best baby. She was a fighter, proven by her survival. Sadly, at 10 years old, she became a victim of IVDD, a horrible spinal disease dogs can get. Despite surgery, she has been paralyzed since then. She now also has an enlarged heart.

Sweet Pea has loved her stroller walks, dragging herself around the house, and spending time with her sisters, Jelly Bean and Bellaboo. She even played with them a lot. She loves barking at anything outside—lol. We’ve had unusually warm weather for February, so she has especially loved sitting by the door and barking at everything she sees.
Unfortunately, it is time to say goodbye. She is 15 now and having more bad days than good. This Thursday, we will say goodbye after having a picnic with all her favorite human foods.

She has been the best dog anyone could own. She always has a kiss ready for me when we wake up. She sleeps right next to—or on—me, along with our other two pups. I’m lucky to get some room to lay on my own bed—lol. She gets so excited when we go somewhere, barking and crying out in joy, sometimes sounding like a barking seal.
All our dogs are rescues or shelter dogs. We will see Sweet Pea again when we cross the rainbow bridge. She is going to love seeing her sisters who passed before her.
Please keep her—and us—in your thoughts as we prepare for the worst day of our lives, saying goodbye to the most amazing girl. We will miss her more than words can say.
