When one of our distant neighbours first noticed the little skinny kitten, they felt sorry for him but hoped he had a home and would walk back. But he stayed.

They started to ask around everywhere in the small neighbourhood, but nobody knew him or had seen him before. It was not the first time people had dumped kittens in the bushland nearby.

As kind as these people were, they couldn't keep the kitten, and that's how we came into play. They had put up posters everywhere, and they had a deadline. If they couldn't find the owners within a month or so, they would have to bring him to the pound, which at that time and that place very likely would have ended deadly.

I saw the poster from a distance a few times over those weeks, and then I walked up and read it closely...on the evening of the last day of their deadline.

I picked up my phone and called, went straight over to them and saw the most beautiful Tonkinese kitten curled up on their veranda. He was skinny and in bad condition. He saw me and ran toward me and I picked him up.

He stared at me, purred... and fell asleep. That was it, I knew Timmy was meant to be with us.

Now he and my husband are inseparable. He follows him everywhere and even sits next to him during the day when he works in our home office. He's learned tricks, is best friends with our other rescue cat Ginger and loves life. We built him and Ginger a huge outdoor enclosure with several climbing posts and natural materials where he enjoys regular sunbaths.

He brings joy to our lives every day.
