I found a young black female dog who had obviously been dumped on the road that runs north and south and connects to our country road. She stayed near the corner of that road, and since we live at the corner — and my parents’ home is on the adjoining road — I traveled that way often.

I would see her regularly. She looked friendly from a distance, but whenever I stopped my car to get closer, she was very timid. It took some time, but she finally came to me, and I brought her home.

She is a good little dog and very loved. She even sleeps in the bed with my son.

Her name is Valerie.
