While searching the shelter for our lost cat, my wife and I spotted a blue-eyed beauty sitting inside a cage. There was something about her that immediately drew us closer, even though adopting another cat had not been part of our plan that day.

I opened the cage, gently lifted her out, and held her for a moment before handing her to my wife. The instant Sassy settled into her arms, she began purring. She seemed completely comfortable, as though she had been waiting specifically for us to arrive.

Sassy left the shelter with us that day and headed toward the loving forever home she had claimed for herself. She did not simply wait to be adopted. She reached out, held on, and made sure we understood exactly where she belonged.
