These Pets Are Having a More Comfortable Stay in the Shelter, Thanks to You

Waiting in a shelter for a forever home can take some time. For many pets, months could drag on. With your help, though, plenty of these pups and cats are having an easier and more comfortable wait.

Thanks to your clicks, shopping for a cause, and donations on The Animal Rescue Site, 30 cats and dogs at City of Dothan Animal Services in Alabama got some needed supplies. Both shelter pets and those being adopted received items including leashes, collars, toys, treats, and boxes. These were distributed through Greater Good Charities' GOODS program, which works to get necessities like food, supplies, clothing, and toys to people and pets in need across the globe.

Animal Services says, "We would like to send a special thank you to The Animal Rescue Site by Greater Good for providing all the toys, collars, leashes, treats, blankets and boxes. These gifts make every animal feel safe, wanted and very much entertained all at the same time. It's special things like this that make such a positive impact in an animal’s life and well-being."

Among the animals helped by these supplies was Mila, an 8-week-old white and gray tabby kitten. She was brought in after her family was unable to care for her and provide the medical attention she may need. When she first arrived, she was shy, but a cozy blanket and some toys helped her emerge from her shell as a standard playful kitten.

Animal Services says, "Mila is a basket of fun and love with all her toys and blanket. She enjoyed playing with her new toys and snuggling with her new blanket. She is packed and ready for her sleepover with her foster family until she is healthy enough to be spayed and then adopted."

In addition to Mila, a sweet little lab/bulldog mix named Dakota benefitted from the supplies, including a new collar, a blanket, and plenty of toys to entertain him. The 3-month-old was originally found wandering the streets alone, and his carers say he was so thankful to be someplace safe that his rambunctious puppy self came to the surface.

Animal Services says, "Dakota snuggles in his blanket, loves his new collar and has a ball playing with his new toys. He had such a good time playing with his new things that he quickly became exhausted and had to take a much needed power nap."

He's still waiting for his forever home, but he has some comfort in the meantime thanks to your contributions.
