Dog Survives Animal Attack And Spends Weeks In Recovery But He's Finally Going Home
Back when I was about eight or nine years old, our family dog got attacked by another dog while my mom took her for a walk. The dog was twice her size, but luckily it didn't do as much damage as it could've.
That's the scary thing about dog bites, they can cause a lot of harm. Sadly for one small dog, a dog attack ended up almost costing him his life. But the good news was that the little dog, Sassie, made a full recovery.
According to Sidewalk Specials, the attack happened in his own backyard after another dog broke in.
Sassie was badly hurt, and his family couldn't afford the medical care needed to get him better, so they reached out to the South African rescue, Sidewalk Specials, for help. The rescue was more than happy to make sure that Sassie got the help he needed, as well as was reunited with the family that cared about him.
Sassie is a little dog from De Doorns, the region in the Western Cape of South Africa. It is know to have high rates of poverty and malnutrition within the country. Because of this, Sidewalk Specials has its own outreach program to help pets and their owners. It was thanks to this outreach program that Sassie was able to get to see a vet and be treated so that he could stay with his family.
However, Sassie's case wasn't quite straightforward. The pooch needed to stay at the clinic for a month in order to get back to his health.
Luckily, Sidewalk Specials made sure that he was well looked after with his own kennel to sleep in, as well as the regularly scheduled vet checks. After a month, he was able to go back home.
