Study Shows The Most And Least Likely US Cities To Survive A Zombie Apocalypse

Did you hear about the “zombie virus” that was found by researchers in Siberia?

It’s not only one virus, mind you. Researchers revived 13 new types of virus! Don’t worry, though. They say that the revived viruses are no threat to people.

But what if a movie-like twist happens and zombies become a reality?

Do you already have a plan for when the inevitable happens deep down in your mind? Do you know where to go if this impossible probability happens?

One research team actually found out that, out of the 53 largest metropolitan areas in the country, 10 US cities have a better chance of surviving a zombie attack than the others. The results were based on four categories: virus defense, containment, finding a cure, and food supply.

If you live in these areas, good for you! If not, maybe it’s time to move to a new city?

Here are the top 10 cities that would most likely win the battle against zombies:

  • Boston, Massachusetts
  • Kansas City, Missouri
  • Salt Lake City, Utah
  • Baltimore, Maryland
  • San Diego, California
  • Seattle, Washington
  • Denver, Colorado
  • Virginia Beach, Virginia
  • Hartford, Connecticut
  • Minneapolis, Minnesota

With the highest cure score out of all 53 states, Boston wins by a large margin with their total score of 48.33, Kansas secures second place with the highest defense score, and Denver got the highest score in virus containment, while the city with the highest food score, Charlotte, North Carolina, places 31st.

Now for the least likely to survive, here are the unfortunate cities that scored the lowest:

  • Miami, Florida
  • Riverside, California
  • Los Angeles, California
  • Tampa, Florida
  • New York City, New York

Two cities from Florida and California are within the bottom 5. With 0 under their cure score, Riverside, California, places 50th. Having the second lowest containment score of 0.68, Los Angeles places 51st. The Big Apple, however, scored negative on its containment score. With a total score of 8.69, New York places last.

See if you can find your city and score in the chart found in this article!
