Celebrate NBCUniversal Local's annual Clear the Shelters event AND Spoil Your Dog Day by spoiling some shelter dogs! 

By gifting these supplies, you make a scary time in the shelter a little happier. When a rescue dog is healthy and happy their personality shines and they are more likely to be adopted into their new home. When you spoil these dogs, you help Clear the Shelters!

Shelters across the country are struggling to provide for dogs that need care. Severe natural disasters, high levels of surrenders, and pet over-population have left shelters overflowing, putting pets' lives at risk.

Sweet Sadie needed a comforting toy and blanket after losing her puppies to distemper.

For these shelters, providing the basic essentials for rescue dogs can be an overwhelming expense. Once the pets have been fed and the bills have been paid, there's often nothing left over for the "extras" some might consider an extravagance.

But these are NOT "extras". They are vital for the shelters' mission to save lives and they're vital for dogs' well-being. 

Send much needed supplies to shelter dogs...

• Toys provide mental stimulation, improving the shelter pets' moods, behavior, and confidence while reducing stress and anxiety. Like blankets, toys can also help smooth the transition to their furr-ever home.
• Blankets are one of the most requested non-food items by shelters. Many pets love to "nest" in blankets which helps them feel safe and calm. Blankets can also be taken home when they are adopted, helping ease the transition to a new home.
• Collars & Leashes are more critical supplies that shelters need constantly. Help pets get walks and healthy exercise after being in shelter kennel.
• Stainless Steel Bowls are essential to give rescue dogs a clean place to eat and can be reused by shelters.
• Supply Bundles will send multiples of the above supplies to some lucky shelter dogs! Medium bundles send 2 gifts, large bundles send 3 gifts and the x-large bundle sends 5 gifts.

Thanks to the generous items provided through this grant, Erica one of our senior dogs currently available for adoption, has been thoroughly spoiled with several of the cozy blankets that were gifted, which keep her warm and comfortable while she naps on her bed and watches the world outside. 

These small comforts make a meaningful difference for a senior dog like Erica, helping reduce stress, promote relaxation, and give her a sense of security while she waits for her future family. Beyond meeting her basic needs, these resources help us celebrate Erica’s personality and ensure that her time with us is filled with love, enrichment, and comfort.

After the passing of my last dog—who lived to the wonderful age of 14—and the loss of the love of my life, I knew I needed to allow at least a year before opening my heart to a new companion. When that time arrived, I began my search by visiting a local shelter. It turned out to be an extraordinarily joyful day, because I met Django.

From the very first moment, it was love at first sight. I learned that Django lives with clinical deafness and that, for this reason, he is often viewed as less likely to be adopted. Yet he struck me as remarkably healthy—vibrant, well, and clearly ready to begin a new chapter in a loving home. Django has settled in beautifully and especially adores his new blanket, a gift from GreaterGood. Thank you, kindhearted angels, for your compassion and generosity.

Rosetta was found emaciated and covered in sores as a stray on the streets of Texas. She was saved by Adopt a Boxer Rescue who was able to give her the food and care she needed, thanks to your donations of essential supplies. The warm blanket and other supplies brought so much comfort to the homeless dog. She is living her best live now in a loving home.

The Animal Rescue Site and Greater Good Charities provided Naperville Area Humane Society with necessities for a variety of animals, which were then given to pet parents in need. That included a bunny owner who needed help feeding their furry friend. The shelter estimated the donations would help more than 100 beneficiaries.

NAHS said, “GGC included species specific supplies that met the need, which was incredibly helpful. We would not have normally kept items that were not dog or cat related at the shelter. Additionally, we were able to help our local wildlife centers with some of the other supplies provided."

BoJangles was having some manner issues and was jumping in excitement on potential adopters. With the toys and blankets sent, staff were able to train this large lovable mastiff to give him a better chance at being adopted.
