Help save critically endangered vaquitas caught in nets
The vaquita is the most endangered marine mammal in the world, numbering possibly as low as 10. Entanglement in illegal gillnets is one of the main threats to their survival. Gillnets and other harmful fishing materials are trapping and killing vaquitas at a time when their protection is essential to avoid extinction.
Vaquitas are small - in fact, they're the world's tiniest porpoise - and are usually unable to fight their way free, remaining entangled until they die from starvation or strangulation.
You can help. Your gift can support the rescue of vaquitas entangled in nets. It can go toward educating local fishers about the importance of safe fishing practices, even taking them on rescues to see firsthand the torture these animals go through. Additionally, your donation can help in the development of education and outreach programs promoting community participation in the rescue and protection of marine life. Give today.
