Humans have devastated sea turtle populations. Help us protect their babies.

There are only seven sea turtle species and all of them are threatened or endangered. As a keystone species, sea turtles are crucial to our ecosystems. They control prey such as jellyfish, graze on seagrass to keep ocean beds healthy, and provide nutrients to coastal vegetation through their nests. 

Each year between April and September, female sea turtles come to shore to lay their eggs. These hatchlings face steep odds—only 1 in 1,000 survive—due to threats like predators, crowded beaches, coastal development, and light pollution that disorients them on their way to the sea. 

That's why our partner, Greater Good Charities, is working with local organizations to protect nests by providing cameras to monitor sea turtles’ activity, sheltering them from light pollution, and educating beachgoers. By intervening the moment a sea turtle lays her eggs, we can ensure as many hatchlings as possible will survive.
