Senior Shelter Dog Searching For Loving Family Who Will Share Their Bed With Her

Senior dogs are simply the best. They are not as rambunctious as puppies and have mastered basic commands. They teach us to slow down and enjoy the little pleasures in life like naps and cuddling.

Sadly, many senior dogs are passed by at shelters due to their age. Evie, a 9-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix is the oldest shelter dog at Humane Society of Broward County and hopes someone will give her a chance.

The good girl was a former emotional support dog before she was surrendered to the Fort Lauderdale, Florida shelter because another senior dog in the home did not get along with her. She gets along well with people and children. She can live in a home with cats or another dog but would need to meet the dog prior to adoption.

Evie would love to spend her golden years in a loving home and her only request is that she can share your bed.

According to her profile, "If you bring me home, I hope you'll let me sleep in bed with you. I love that! I don't bark a lot, and I've been nicknamed a 'cuddle bug'."

@humanebroward Sweet senior girl 🥺🙏 Beautiful Evie is our shelter’s oldest dog 🥺 She does not deserve to spend her golden years in a shelter 😔 Evie is 9-years-old and is a total cuddle bug that loves to sleep in bed with you. She is friendly, social and was even used as an E.S.A. dog by her former owner, but unfortunately the other dog in the house did not like her, so she was surrendered to our shelter 💔 She is very smart and knows sit, down, up, paw, and other paw. Evie still has so many good years ahead of her! Can you help make them her best years ever? 🙏 If you are unable to adopt, please share her post and help Evie find her forever family ❤️ To meet Evie, please start by submitting an application online (link is in bio) and then come to the shelter to meet them. We’re open 7 days a week. The Humane Society of Broward County is located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Adoptions open at 11am. Call 954-989-3977 ext. 6 with any questions. #rescuedog #shelterdog #adoptme #adoptdontshop #fyp #foryou #foryoupage #dogsoftiktok #florida #fortlauderdale #dogsoftheday #dogrescue #dog #dogshelter #animalrescue #animalshelter #adoptashelterdog #adoption #frostedfaces #seniordog #adoptaseniordog #adoptasenior #cuddlebug #staffy #staffysoftiktok #staffylove ♬ original sound - Humane Society Broward County

A video was posted to the shelter's TikTok featuring Evie showing how well she can sit. The shelter wrote, "She is very smart and knows sit, down, up, paw, and other paw. Evie still has so many good years ahead of her! Can you help make them her best years ever?"

She is patiently waiting for that special someone to stop at her kennel and take her home. The shelter is open 7 days a week and asks that anyone interested in adopting Evie to complete the pre-adoption application at www.humanebroward.com and then come to the shelter to meet her.

Check out the video below of Evie enjoying time outdoors and proving that age is only a number. Share her story to help her find a home!
