Best Friends Teams Up With ABC's The Golden Bachelor To Give Senior Pets A Second Chance At Love

Gerry Turner, 72, is ABC's first Golden Bachelor who is hoping for a second chance to find love. He shares his home with a senior dog and hopes to find someone to enjoy life with.

But he's not the only one looking for love in his "golden years".

Best Friends Animal Society decided to team up with ABC to promote some of their senior dogs and cats looking for a second chance.

They are going to waive adoption fees for senior pets starting on the debut night of The Golden Bachelor (September 28) through November 30.

The animal rescue will also feature a senior pet each week ahead of the new episode of The Golden Bachelor.

"Best Friends and ABC’s The Golden Bachelor are teaming up to help senior pets find loving families. Each week, adoptable senior pets will be featured across the Best Friends social platforms to capture the hearts of hopeful pet lovers and inspire them to give a senior pet a forever home," shared Best Friends on their website.

Before the show has aired the first episode, the first impression "bone" has been handed out. The happy recipient is 11-year-old Zella. Best Friends wrote, "She loves soft toys, belly rubs, and short walks in the neighborhood."

Does she sound like the perfect match for you? If so, head over to Best Friend's website to learn more. There are dozens of other senior pets waiting to meet their person and start their next journey.

The senior pets at Best Friends and Gerry are proving that age is just a number. Senior pets are often overlooked for younger dogs and cats, so the goal is to highlight these special pets and find them their happy ever after.

"Active senior dogs make great walking companions, and many older cats are still fun-loving kittens at heart. And if you’re looking for someone to cuddle with at night, an older best friend might be just who you’re looking for," states Best Friend.

There is special dog or cat out there for everyone. Check out the video below to learn more about Gerry and see him play with some of the senior pets looking for a loving home. It is sure to melt your heart.
