Severely Malnourished Kitten Suffering from Multiple Fractures Needs Your Support to Heal

Sick and injured animals continue to arrive at shelters in need of emergency care, but most shelters are overcrowded and underfunded. They need our help to save lives.

With your support, we are conducting our 3rd Annual Paws in Peril Care-A-Thon. The week-long campaign will help severely neglected, injured, and sick animals get the emergency care they need to survive and thrive.

Kittens like Winston.

The ten-month-old orange tabby kitten was nearly euthanized for a urinary blockage that his owner couldn't afford treatment for - but A Pathway to Hope saved him. The real reason he is struggling to go to the bathroom is heartbreaking.

Winston arrived in excruciating pain and after countless tests and examinations by multiple vets at emergency animal clinics, they finally discovered what the problem is.

It turns out that Winston is suffering from severe malnutrition due to lack of nutrition in his diet. His former owner was just feeding him chicken, and he was not receiving the nutrition his bones needed.

The rescue told us, "As a result, he developed a severe vitamin C deficiency that led to profound skeletal damage. His bones were brittle and underdeveloped, and advanced imaging revealed multiple fractures: old breaks in his pelvis and at least one new spinal fracture. These injuries left him unable to posture to urinate, resulting in repeated and untreated urinary tract infections that ultimately caused multiple blockages."

Winston is still in a lot of pain and has a long road to recovery. He is receiving IV pain meds to keep him comfortable as his body heals. He needs your support to continue to get the care he needs to heal.

His vet bills are quickly accumulating, and he still needs more care. Donate today to help this sweet feline heal and live a long and happy life.
