Over 260 Cats & Dogs Get Second Chance On Special "Clear The Shelters" Flight

It takes a village...

193 cats and 76 dogs left overcrowded shelters in Alabama, Florida, and Louisiana and flew to freedom in New Jersey and New Hampshire.

The Clear the Shelters Good Flight carried many overlooked and at-risk pets like adult cats, large dogs, and heartworm-positive dogs. They will now get the medical care they need and then find a loving home.

This lifesaving flight was made possible due in part to your support, so thank you!

The shelter pets were loaded onto the plane in Florida during the early morning hours on August 2nd and headed to their first stop - New Jersey.

Dozens of pets were unloaded to start their new life in the Garden State.

The remaining passengers took to the skies again and arrived at their final destination in New Hampshire.

The dogs and cats were greeted by smiling faces and carefully transported back to receiving animal shelters to settle in. They will all be available for adoption soon.

Animal shelters are struggling to find adopters as new pets arrive daily. Many highly adoptable pets are at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space and adopters.

Greater Good Charities' Good Flights swoops in and rescues shelter pets like Ruthie -the senior dachshund found wandering the streets with an abscessed tooth - and the one-eyed cat named Captain Hook and gives them the second chance they deserve.

This unique flight was able to save even more pets thanks to the partnership of NBCUniversal Local, Hill’s Pet Nutrition, and your generous donations.

Our non-profit partner, Greater Good Charities, thanked all involved and said, "We’re proud to spearhead this mission that will help so many pets get the bright futures they deserve."

Every month, The Animal Rescue Site sponsors a Good Flight (called Flight to Freedom) but we couldn't do it without you. Help us raise funds to fly more shelter pets to freedom by donating here.

Together we CAN change the world. Check out the video below to see how Good Flights brings hope to pets and the hardworking shelter staff in the South.
