Sick Puppies Dumped at Gas Station with Swollen Joints and Fever
Andrea Powell
A kindhearted individual found two sick puppies who were dumped at a gas station in New Mexico and stepped up to help.
Sadly, the area is home to countless stray dogs and unwanted litters are often abandoned.

Underdog Animal Rescue and Rehab in Moab, Utah, took the puppies in and named them Fish and Chips. They arrived anemic, suffering from tick-borne diseases, and had swelling in their joints accompanied by a fever.

They were started on treatment for their illnesses, but the local vet could not figure out why their joints would swell along with a fever. After months of testing, the puppies were referred to a specialist in Colorado to diagnose this mystery illness.

The puppies were diagnosed with primary congenital lymphedema. This genetic condition can be managed with compression bandages, exercise, acupuncture, diet, and medication.

Fish and Chips need your help to get the care they need to heal and go on to find loving homes.

Greater Good Charities' Emergency Animal Medical fund is assisting with their medical care with your continued support. The fund gives shelter pets the second chance they deserve through emergency surgery and ongoing medical care.
