Animals Burned in Devastating Greece Wildfires Are Arriving at Shelters in Need of Emergency Care
Andrea Powell
Over 24,000 acres were burned by the recent raging wildfires in Greece. Countless people and animals were displaced and injured by the flames.
Residents were seen rushing into the fires to save their pets and farm animals as the deadly fires continued to spread.
Waves of burned animals are arriving at shelters. Over 100 animals have been rescued from the frontlines by animal organizations like IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare), Save Your Hood, and ANIMA.
Domestic pets and wildlife need emergency care for severe burns, dehydration, and other life-threatening conditions.
That's why our partner, Greater Good Charities, is working with local partners to provide medical care for pets injured in the wildfires, like Markos.

This sweet dog was found with severely burned paws and extremely dehydrated. He was immediately started on fluids, antibiotics, and treatment for his scorched paws.

He will need weeks of daily bandage changes for his paws to heal and ongoing medical care to ensure he regains his health.
Markos is just one of countless animals in need of emergency medical care. Donate today to help save more animals.
