Starving Senior Horses Need Our Help to Regain Their Strength & Heal

Meet Annie and River.

These sweet 20-year-old quarter horses were loyal trail horses for most of their lives in the mountains out West. They moved to Kentucky with their owner who fell on hard times and was unable to afford feed or routine care.

The owner tried to find a new home for the horses as they continued to lose weight, but to no avail.

Annie and River were starving, nearly 200 pounds underweight, with overgrown hooves when they were surrendered to Kentucky Equine Adoption Center.

The rescue told us that Annie and River have been started on the UC Davis refeeding protocol to slowly reintroduce food to their bodies to prevent refeeding syndrome and organ failure.

Sadly, River also has a severe heart murmur that will be treated once he has regained his strength.

Annie and River need your support to regain their health and live out the rest of their days on green pastures.

Help us raise $4,000 for Annie and $6,000 for River and give them the second chance they deserve.

Your gift will not only give them the hope to keep fighting, but your donations will help cover their ongoing care.
