Update: We received both good and sad news about Nova and her puppies. Nova has slowly regained weight and is learning to trust humans again. However, her puppies passed away from deadly parvovirus. Krystina and Nova did all they could to save them.

There's nothing like a mother's love and devotion to her children, including dog mamas. 

Krystina received a heartbreaking call for help for a mama dog (who we named Nova) and her newborn puppies who were shot by a cruel person with a shotgun. 

Nova did her best to protect them, but she was shot and some of her puppies were killed. The emaciated mama and her three remaining puppies were rescued and brought to Under the Sun Shelter.

Despite the pain and her weak condition, Nova continues to care and feed her puppies. She doesn't let them out of her sight. Her wounds are being treated, and she will need months of ongoing care to recover and regain her strength. 

Her puppies are her whole world and they are finally safe. With your support, they will continue to grow and get the care they need.
