Apocalyptic wildfires have destroyed entire neighborhoods in Southern California. Firefighters continue to battle the rapid-spreading fires and the strong winds that are fueling them.

Lost, injured, and displaced animals are arriving at animal shelters looking for refuge until they can be reunited with their families.

Overcrowded animal shelters in the impacted areas are asking for help in finding homes for their shelter pets so they can help the hundreds of animals in need.
The Animal Rescue Site and Greater Good Charities are conducting an emergency flight that will fly over 50 dogs and cats who were looking for homes prior to the fires to shelters in Northern California and Oregon to find forever homes.

This will open much-needed kennels for the displaced animals that continue to arrive.
Meet just a few of the shelter pets that will be on the flight.
Brendon

This adorable husky arrived at San Diego Humane Society in 2023 with behavioral challenges. The staff have worked with Brendon and are happy to report that he is "very responsive and affectionate to his caretakers, and he has enjoyed chasing bubbles in the play yard, splashing in the pool and playing with toys!" He is just one of the lucky passengers on the flight.
Luna

Luna was surrendered to San Diego Humane Society due to severe skin issues that her owner was unable to manage. The poor pup had lost most of her hair and had open, bleeding wounds covering her body from relentless scratching.
She received medical attention, and her hair is starting to grow back. The shelter shared, "This energetic, affectionate girl is now more than ready for her fresh start with a new family!"
Itty

This senior cat returned to San Diego Humane Society nine years after she was adopted after her owner passed away. Itty is in good health, even though she doesn't have any teeth.
The shelter said, "This toothless beauty is as ready as ever for her second chance in Oregon, where we are sure she will make a new family very happy."
Mellie

The three-year-old Doberman mix arrived as a stray with an umbilical hernia. She was treated and spayed and is now the most affectionate and friendly dog. She loves to go for walks and meet new people.
She is a staff and volunteer favorite. Now she’s ready for her next adventure with a new family.
Winnie

Winnie arrived as a stray at San Diego Humane Society suffering from skin allergies and entropion. After months of medicated baths and treatment for her eyelids, she is happy and healthy.
Her foster mom shared, "This little love bug is feeling much better after receiving much-needed medical support, and she will provide endless joy to the lucky family who decides to adopt her!"
We need your help to make this flight happen. Donate now to help evacuate these shelter pets (and many more) and make room for animals impacted by the wildfires. Thanks to a generous donor, all donations will be DOUBLED, up to $20,000.
