NC Shelter Dogs & Cats Who Survived Helene Are Looking for Forever Homes in Winston-Salem

Forsyth Humane Society in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, has taken in dozens of dogs and cats from hurricane-ravaged shelters in Western North Carolina. All the animals were already in shelters prior to the storm.

They have been through a lot and need a family of their own. Their new journey began with the transfer that allowed the impacted shelters to recover and take in displaced pets after Helene.

The dogs and cats are still settling in but staff, volunteers, and fosters at Forsyth Humane Society have already fallen in love with each and every one.

While they are still learning more about the dogs and their "quirks", they encourage people to head to the shelter to meet the adoptable pups, like Atom and Volcom.

Check out the adorable video below that gives just a glimpse at some of the dogs and what makes them special.

The shelter shared the heartwarming news that several fosters "failed" and decided to adopt their new furry pal. One foster family commented, "Never been so happy to fail at something in my life! Sweet Marge has stolen our hearts!"

The shelter thanked everyone who adopted and wrote, "Thank you ALL for opening your hearts and your homes to new little lives and lots of love. You’re giving these animals a second chance at life and for that, we are so, so grateful."

Your donations have already helped feed countless pets - thank you! Join us in feeding even more shelter and displaced pets in areas hit by Helene and Milton. The recovery process has just begun and there are so many hungry pets to feed. Donate now!
