Dog Barely Surviving on Scraps in Backyard is Thriving in New Home

Your donations are helping feed rescued dogs like Darling. Her transformation is amazing and she is finally living the life she deserves.

The schnauzer mix was discovered by a rescue who was rescuing a Labrador retriever who lived in the backyard of a home in Oklahoma without food or shelter before a winter storm hit the area.

As soon as the rescue saw the matted and malnourished dog, they reached out to Helping Paws Animal Rescue to take her in. The poor dog didn't even have a name, and the rescue learned that she had to fight for scraps of food that the owners tossed in the backyard, which she rarely got.

The rescue told us, "They thought they were doing her a favor when they melted plastic bags and plastic water bottles and poured the melted plastic over her back to create a 'permanent plastic coat'!"

She arrived weighing a mere six pounds, matted hair covered in plastic and sticks, and suffering from rotting teeth and cataracts. It is a miracle she survived.

The rescue named her "Darling" and thanks to your support she was able to recover in a warm, soft bed and eat nutritious food.

The matted hair was removed, and she finally received the care she needed and deserved.

A few months later, weighing a healthy twelve pounds, she found her forever home.
