Emergency Flight Carrying Shelter Pets Out of California Wildfires Lands Safely
Thousands of homes and over 40,000 acres have been burned by the devastating wildfires in Southern California.
Thanks to your support, The Animal Rescue Site helped sponsor an emergency pet transport that departed on January 17 from San Diego and headed with precious cargo to Northern California and Oregon.
Over 50 shelter pets - who were waiting for homes prior to the fires - boarded the flight and safely arrived at one of the receiving shelters.
Dogs like Brendon who have been patiently waiting for a loving home will soon find his special someone.
All the animals will be examined - treated if necessary - and then put up for adoption.
Oregon Humane Society shared that they welcomed 23 dogs and 2 cats into the shelter from the flight and reported that all the animals are resting in a quiet space.
Be sure to follow the receiving shelters (Oregon Humane Society, East Bay SPCA, Marin Humane, Humane Society of Sonoma County and Pets In Need) to see all the animals find their happy endings.
This flight gave dozens of shelter pets a second chance and opened up critical space at LA shelters for lost, injured, and displaced pets.
San Diego Humane Society continues to work with shelters in impacted areas to take in shelter pets and free kennels for animals in need.
Injured and lost animals continue to arrive at Pasadena Humane and other LA shelters in need of medical care. Join us in helping animals burned in the wildfires by donating here.
