Among the rubble, garbage, and overgrown brush along the road in war-torn Ukraine lives abandoned and homeless dogs like Milka. 

The sweet puppy was struggling to survive on her own when Krystina, owner of Under the Sun Shelter, spotted her. 

After living near the frontlines with bombs going off and danger everywhere, the puppy was leery of people at first and ran. 

Her quick actions and survival instincts are what has kept her alive this long. Eventually, with the bribe of tasty food Krystina was able to capture the puppy and named her Milka. 

Once safely inside the vehicle, the puppy finally relaxed. She was brought back to the shelter where she was given nutritious food, thanks to your donations. 

Milka spent countless months at the shelter growing bigger each day and making new friends. While she loved her caretakers and fellow companions, she still wished for a home of her own - and her wish finally came true. 

The sweet dog finally found someone to love and is beyond grateful for your support that provided the food and care she needed to survive. The goal is for all of the dogs (more than 250) at Under the Sun to find a forever home.
