Over 125,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed since the Russian full-scale invasion began in 2022. The number continues to rise as attacks continue, destroying lives and tearing families apart.

A devastated mother recently learned that her son, Sasha, was killed in battle. She had a couple requests that she asked Lala and Krystina for. One was to have his belongings and his beloved cat returned to her from the frontline. She also asked that if on the way to retrieve these items they came across an animal in need to please help them. 

"If on your way you come across a poor creature that needs help - take it with you. I will take it as a sign from my son and become its family," she said. 

Lala and her team didn't think they would find any living animal in the war-torn area destroyed by repeated bombings. Humans had left the area a long time ago. Then they spotted some movement on the side of the road and found a small mama dog and her puppy who were barely surviving. 

It took lots of bribing with food and sleeping pills to safely capture the frightened dogs and transport them to their new home. Krystina and Lala drove through the night and delivered the animals to the grieving mother at one in the morning. 

Tears ran down her face as she took her son's belongings and held his cat. She welcomed the new dogs into her home and will give them the life they deserve in his honor.
