Orphaned kittens face high mortality rates (up to 75%) without specialized round-the-clock care. They need immediate care for their best chance at survival. Shelters are seeing an influx of them and need help. 

An orphaned newborn kitten was found shivering under a porch in Asheville during a spring downpour. She was cold, scared, and crying out for her mother who never returned.

A concerned resident scooped up the tiny orange and white kitten in their hands and rushed her to Asheville Humane Society. 

Thanks to your donations, the shelter was able to respond quickly and save her life. She was wrapped in a heating pad and bottle-fed formula. The shelter said, "That initial bottle-feeding was the turning point- the frantic cries settled into a rhythmic purr, a small but powerful sign of her will to survive."

A loving foster took the kitten (who we are calling Ginger) in and continued her care and shared that she transformed from a frail stray to a pouncing kitten. "Today, this kitten is thriving—hitting her weight milestones and discovering the joy of feather toys. She is on track to be cleared for adoption in just a few weeks. Her journey from a rainy porch to a warm lap is a testament to the lifesaving 'second chances' your support helps us provide."
