There are an estimated 3,000-6,000 pets living with homeless people in the greater Los Angeles area.

PATH (People Assisting the Homeless), a non-profit organization to end homelessness, was started by concerned citizens in Los Angeles wanting to help those without homes. It started out with distribution of food and supplies and has expanded over the decades to building affordable and supportive housing across California and many other services, like pet care. 

Thanks to your support, PATH was able to provide care and vital supplies to homeless pet and their owners. Read about how your generosity enhanced the lives of pets Chewbaca and Lily. 

Chewbaca

The small dog named "Chewbaca" arrived at the PATH facility with his owner soaking wet and shivering due to a rainstorm. The team was able to quickly warm him up with donated blankets and find a place for him and his owner to stay. 

They shared, "He also used the dog wipes to clean him up and get the dirt and mud off of him as well. Then, Chewbaca was able to go to sleep in his new home on one of the Greater Good pet mats that evening."

Lily

Cats are also pets of the homeless and in need of medical care. Lily arrived at PATH when she was just a few months old suffering from fleas. Thanks to your donations, she received the treatment and care she needed to get rid of the pesky parasites. 

She is on flea and tick medicine to ensure she stays happy and healthy.

PATH housing sites are pet friendly, because they believe, "no one should have to choose between shelter and staying with their best friend."
