Shelter Dog Uses Her "Million-Dollar Smile" To Find A Forever Home
Animal shelters are overcrowded with adoptable dogs and cats and fewer people are coming out to adopt. Shelters do their best to showcase the personality of each pet, but a 3-year-old shelter dog at Animal Care Centers in NYC found a way to stand out on her own.
The 86-pound pit bull mix named Foxy decided the best way to show off her sweet and loving personality was to grin from ear to ear when people walked by her kennel.
And it worked.
The adorable act was captured on video by a staff member at the shelter's Brooklyn location. Foxy shows off her pearly whites and continues to "cheese" as she wags her tail with excitement. The shelter wrote, "Have you ever seen a dog with a million dollar smile?"

The video was posted to TikTok where over 600k people viewed and were charmed by the sweet pup. A few viewers pointed out that her smile is known as a "submissive smile" and often seen in dogs in shelter situations.
Thousands of people commented on the 14-second clip, including people interested in adopting her. TikToker Amy Neve commented, "An update! I tried to adopt her but she was adopted last night!!"
Foxy found her forever home three days after the video went viral. The shelter did not have any information on the sweet girl and told potential adopters that she would need daily mental and physical stimulation to keep her happy and healthy.
Her prayers and Christmas wish have been granted.
