All shelter dogs want the same thing - a forever home. They wait patiently to find a family who will love and cherish them.

A sweet four-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier at Humane Society Broward County named Lavinia thought she had finally found her people.

She was excited and ready to go home with them - but then they changed their mind.

The shelter posted a video from Lavinia point of view and wrote, "t’s heartbreaking. I’m Lavinia, and I thought I was finally getting a family to call my own, but when it came time to come get me, they changed their minds. Now I’m wondering… did I do something wrong?"

@humanebroward It’s heartbreaking 💔😔 I’m Lavinia, and I thought I was finally getting a family to call my own, but when it came time to come get me, they changed their minds 🥺 Now I’m wondering… did I do something wrong? 💔 At just 4-years-old, I have a lot of love to share, if you just give me the chance 🙏 I was transferred to the Humane Society from another shelter, so I’m really ready for the comfort of a loving home 🥹 The staff and volunteers say I’m a fun-loving gal who likes to play with toys and I’m crazy about treats! ❤️ I’m friendly, I walk well on a leash, appear to be housetrained, love to be petted, and will get the zoomies and dash around the yard! 💓 It is unknown how I am with cats, and if you have a dog at home, a meet and greet at the shelter is recommended ♥️ Just give them a call! Could I be the loyal companion you’ve been waiting for? 🙏 Always by your side, always eager for cuddles and connection 🥰 Thanks to Dolly’s Dream they have paid my adoption fee, and I get to go home with lots of goodies to help me settle in 🙏 To meet me, Lavinia, visit www.humanebroward.com and do the pre-adoption application (link in bio) and then stop by. The shelter is located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312 and the adoption kennels open daily at 11 a.m. If you have any questions call 954-989-3977 ❤️ #dog #adoptme #dogsoftiktok #fyp #pitbull ♬ original sound - Humane Society Broward County

They went on to share that Lavinia is a total sweetheart who "has a lot of love to share". She enjoys playing with toys, devouring treats, walks well on a leash, and loves to cuddle. The friendly pup is looking for someone to love unconditionally and just asks the same in return.

Her adoption fee has been covered and she is ready for a loving home. Please share her story.

James and his blind brother, William, were found abandoned on the street when they were just four weeks old. James was born with one blind eye that started to cause him discomfort.
