Shelter Pets Running Out of Time - Fly Them to Freedom on Back-to-Back Flights
Andrea Powell
Two Flights. One Mission. Save Shelter Animals.
Many animal shelters in the South are operating in crisis mode as they see record number of surrenders and intakes as the cost of living continues to increase. The shelters are already overflowing with pets and they need help now.
To make matters worse, it is also the peak of "Kitten and Puppy Season", the time of the year that shelters see an influx of orphaned and sick litters and mamas in need of critical care.

As animals continue to arrive, highly adoptable animals are at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space, resources, and adopters. That is where you can help.
Along with our partner, Greater Good Charities, we are conducting two Flights to Freedom. The back-to-back flights will help transport dozens of cats out of Iowa and fly them to new shelters in the Pacific Northwest on May 30.
The following flight on June 2 will take dogs and cats from Louisiana and Alabama shelters and fly them to Wisconsin.
Meet a few of the cats with one-way tickets to freedom below.
Pickles

His caretakers told us the 5-year-old orange tabby named Pickles lost parts of both ears and a portion of his tail due to severe frostbite.
"This resilient, remarkable boy weathered the storm and came out the other side ready to find his person. And here is the thing about Pickles — those battle-worn ears and his distinguished little tail don't define him. They simply tell the story of a survivor. A fighter. A cat who refused to give up even when the world was brutally cold and unkind. Now Pickles is making his way from Iowa all the way to Washington, trading harsh winters for a warm lap and a loving home that will make sure he is never cold again. He deserves nothing less than a soft place to land, a sunny windowsill to call his own, and a person who sees his scars and loves him fiercely because of them. Pickles has already proven he can survive anything. Now it's time for him to thrive."
Oswald

This handsome one-year-old gray and white cat is ready to find a family of his own. He is the perfect mix of playful and sweet. His shelter shared, "Spunky, playful, and bursting with life, Oswald is the kind of cat who will have you laughing one minute and melting the other. He tears through life with kitten enthusiasm but cuddles up with the loving heart of a devoted companion — truly the best of both worlds."
Cora

A queen in feline form. This gorgeous girl with her long coat thrives with adults who will pamper her and give her the space she needs. She is described by her caretakers as, "a gorgeous brown tabby girl with silky soft fur, a whole lot of personality, and a very clear idea of exactly what she wants in life. And honestly? We respect it."
She gets along with dogs, as long as they respect her space and her rules. She is ready to find a castle of her own.
Shoelace

This Siamese kitten has a unique name and a big personality to go with it. His current shelter told us, "Spunky, spirited, and absolutely ready to play, this special little guy is the kind of kitten that makes you stop scrolling and say I need him. Siamese kittens are famously bold, brilliantly intelligent, and delightfully vocal — and Shoelace is checking every single one of those boxes with enthusiasm. He has opinions. He has energy. He has that stunning Siamese charm that has been winning hearts for centuries."
Help fly him to a forever home.
These flights will save countless lives and reduce the strain on overstretched shelters. Every dog and cat passenger will get a second chance to find a loving home.
