Tulsa Day Center (TDC) is an emergency shelter for homeless or at-risk people, including those with pets. They provide a safe place as well as vital supplies to help people get back on their feet and care for their beloved furry companions.

Thanks to your generous donations, the center received essential pet supplies as well as clothing for people in need. They shared a story about a young man struggling with homelessness and a woman who is a domestic violence victim who needed a safe place to go with her dog. Read how your donations have changed their lives.

The young man came to the shelter after living at a youth shelter. He is working hard to get stability in his life but needs help along the way. The safe space, amenities, and clean clothes are propelling him in the right direction.

TDC shared, "Having access to new, clean items provides a sense of dignity and confidence that supports his ability to pursue employment and engage in services."

The young man who is referred to as Z.B. said, "It means a lot to me to have clean clothing and good hygiene. It’s not always easy to find that in a shelter, where you can’t control others around you."

A domestic violence victim and her trusty companion, Rocky, arrived at the center in need of essentials and a safe place to stay. According to TDC, "Upon arrival, both G.C. and Rocky were able to access a safe environment and begin stabilizing in shelter together. Donations including a new collar, leash, and blanket have made a meaningful difference for G.C. and Rocky."

They went on to say, "For many individuals experiencing homelessness, pets are an essential source of emotional support, safety, and companionship, and this is especially true for G.C. Having access to these supplies allows her to better care for Rocky and maintain his well-being while focusing on her own stability and next steps. Small but important resources like these help reduce daily stressors and support consistent engagement in services. They also reinforce the value of TDC’s pet-friendly approach by ensuring clients have what they need to sustain care for their animals while working toward long-term stability."

With rising costs, homeless shelters are seeing more people and pets in need. Donate today to help these people and pets as they get back on their feet and stay together. Every dollar helps.
