Cat Zip Alliance/Campus Cats is an all-volunteer group with no paid employees, so you know your donations go directly to covering vet care, food, and supplies. Our broad mission is to promote humane and effective community cat management through our Trap-Neuter-Return-Monitor (TNR), barn cat, and adoption programs in order to keep community cats out of animal control facilities. On a smaller scale, we care for the community cats that live on and adjacent to University of Georgia property every day. On a larger scale, we loan out traps, conduct TNR workshops & trapping training sessions, and provide the resources someone might need in order to manage community cats in their own backyards or place of business, serving Athens Clarke County and surrounding counties in mid- and NE Georgia. 2018 stats:Adopted - 256 cats & kittens. Of this total, 182 were pulled from animal control facilities in 4 Georgia counties - with the exception of one hurricane cat from a facility in NC. All had been listed as unadoptable/feral and went into our barn cat program thanks to Linda Wistrom-Hund. All 182 cats would have been euthanized otherwise.In foster care - 11 currently in foster care.TNR - 51Owned cats we paid for spay/neuter & vaccines - 31Returned to owner - 1Transferred to other rescue groups - 2Euthanized or died because of illness/injuries - 7Eighty people borrowed traps through our regular Sunday trap pick up and training sessions - resulting in many more cats and kittens fixed, and some even adopted! Eight of those people tackled colonies of 10-20 cats, most people trapped 2-4 cats/kittens each.
